What Is Frontiers?
Frontiers is one of south-central Wisconsin's
leading social, discussion and activity clubs for gay and bisexual
men. Dedicated to exploring new ideas and providing a friendly environment
for social interaction, Frontiers serves a broad segment of the gay
community through a varied offering of stimulating programs and activities.
Organized in 1981, the club provides a forum
for the exchange of ideas and information on topics covering relationships,
film and arts, health, politics, books, religion and travel.
- Programs: Social gatherings
are held, usually in a member's home. Programs may include expert
speakers, panel discussions, videos, potluck dinners or walking
tours. Typically, meetings consist of a one-hour program followed
by informal discussion and socializing.
- Seasonal Activities: Frontiers
celebrates nearly every major holiday season with either a party,
dinner, cookout or other event. It also organizes a variety of outdoor
activities such as hiking, camping, bicycling and tours of historic
places or architectural sites.
- Special Interest Groups:
Frontiers sponsors small special interest groups including a Bridge
Club, Film Circle, Chat Group. A Dining Out group regularly samples
the cuisine of different Madison-area restaurants. These activities
are open to everyone.
- Newsletter: The New Frontiersman
is published monthly and provides information about upcoming events,
details and directions to programs as well as other news of interest
to the gay community.
