Annual Membership Meeting

The Frontiers Annual Meeting was held on March 8,2009 at the West Side Club. Twelve members were present and enjoyed a fabulous brunch buffet that was partially subsidized by the club. Jim D. conducted the meeting as acting President. Jim welcomed all the attendees, ascertained that a quorum was present and read the minutes of the 2008 annual meeting. The minutes were approved as presented.

Treasurer Bob D. was absent and left a brief financial summary with all board members. Jim presented the summation to the membership. As of January 2, 2009 the club has assets of $2,208.41 in a checking account at Anchor Bank. Larry K. gave a report on membership. Larry indicated that membership over the last year has remained stable at about 79 members. Larry also commented on his role as newsletter editor. Larry is continually improving the technical aspects of the newsletter and the emails that are necessary for contacting the membership.

The membership then approved a Frontiers By-Laws change recommended by the Board. The amendment changes Paragraph 5.05, replacing “six times” with the phrase “four times”.

Paragraph 5.05 now reads: The Board of Directors shall meet on a regular basis, at least four times per year, at a time and place to be fixed by the directors.

Finally, the election for members to the Board of Directors was held. David S. and Dennis B. were elected to one-year terms. Jim D. and Larry K. were elected to two- year terms. Bob D. has one year remaining on his term. Bill S. decided to retire from the board and was thanked for his participation on the board.

After the meeting of the membership was adjourned, the newly seated Board of Directors held a short meeting to elect the officers.

Frontiers Events: Planned Schedule For 2009

The Frontiers Board has reviewed 2008 as a successful year, with improved attendance at most of the sponsored events and recovery from the financial losses of previous years. A more active calendar has been proposed for 2009, with major events alternating with potluck socials. The Film Circle will continue each month. Suggestions for additional events are always welcome.
 

Member Action Item #1: Volunteer to host a potluck social during the months of February, April, June and August.

Member Action Item #2: Volunteer to serve on the Board of Directors and help the Club have another successful year. Board meetings are held quarterly (four times each year).
