We invite you to join in the global celebration of the International Year of Astronomy, a joyous commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the first astronomical observation made through a telescope by Galileo Galilei. Returning to Wartmann Prairie for the concert presentation is the world-renowned Renaissance instrumental ensemble, Piffaro: The Renaissance Band. The University of Wisconsin-Madison Astronomy Department will provide telescopes for observations following the concert, guided by History of Astronomy Professor James Lattis.

Sponsored by William Wartmann in partnership with the Madison Early Music Festival, this program will take place at 7:30 pm at Wartmann Prairie, located at 7356 Caledonia Road, Edgerton, Wisconsin. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance through the Edgerton Chamber of Commerce at (608) 884-4408 or at the door.

Directions to Wartmann Prairie from Madison:

  • Take Hwy 14 south toward Evansville to Hwy 59
  • Go East through Cooksville
  • 4.7 miles past Cooksville, take a right on Wallin Rd.
  • Take the left fork in the road up the hill
  • Go around the curve to 7356 Caledonia Rd
