LGBTIQ Senior Resource Information Project

With funding from the Area Agency on Aging of Dane County, OutReach is collaborating with a lesbian retired senior case manager to bring us information from several Dane County senior-serving agencies. Presentations will be held from June through December at OutReach, 600 Williamson Street, Madison. These events are FREE and open to the interested public. Refreshments will be provided.
 

August 11 (Wednesday)

Jean Mueller of Catholic Charities provides information about Companion Care, caregiver training program, an Elder Mentor program, in-home mental health counseling, support groups and volunteering opportunities.
 
August 18 (Wednesday)
2:00-4:00pm
The Dane County Transportation Manager (Norah Cashin), the Mobility Manager (Jen Sutherland) and Gene Kudert with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will present as a panel.
 
August 24 (Tuesday)
2:30-4:00pm
A Panel of LGBTIQ seniors tell how they have used or are using Dane County senior services, including retirement housing. Two are 80+ years.
 
September 9 (Thursday)
2:00-4:00pm
Barbara Quirk, writer for Cap Times and advocate of all seniors tells her experiences working on behalf of LGBT seniors and their support systems. Room at Madison Senior Center
 
September 22 (Wed)
2:00-3:00pm
Joann Russell with Dane County S.O.S. Senior Council/Capitol Care Health Plan will tell us how we can become a member and how the Council advocates on behalf of seniors. Room at Madison Senior Center
 
September 22 (Wed)
3:00-4:00pm
Elizabeth Conrad, Community Educator for the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups will give an overview of the activities of their agency and tell us how we can get involved in senior advocacy issues. Room at Madison Senior Center
